How big should a left chest logo be?
A left chest logo has to read from across a room and still sit between the collar and the armhole. Drop your logo on a to-scale shirt in your size, see the sizes our print spot allows for adults and youth, then try the cap front and the upper back.

The sizes we print and stitch
Our left chest spot starts at 3.5 inches wide on adult shirts and 3 inches on youth sizes, and goes up to 4.5 inches (4 on youth). Past 5 inches the studio warns that a logo is large for the left chest: most are 3 to 4 inches wide. These are the widths it starts each spot at, and the largest it allows:
| Spot | Usual width | Largest | Youth usual | Youth largest | Tallest |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left chest | 3.5 in | 4.5 in | 3 in | 4 in | — |
| Cap front | 4.25 in | 4.75 in | — | — | 2.25 in |
| Upper back | 3 in | 4 in | 2.5 in | 3.5 in | — |
| Left sleeve | 3 in | 4 in | 2.5 in | 3.5 in | 4 in |
| Full front | 11 in | 12.5 in | 8 in | 10 in | — |
| Full back | 12 in | 14 in | 9 in | 11 in | — |
Why one width works on every size
A left-chest logo sits on the chest, not across it, so the same logo works from small to 3XL: the shirt grows around it. Here is how wide our everyday cotton tee is across the chest, laid flat, in each size:
| Size | S | M | L | XL | 2XL | 3XL |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chest width | 18 in | 20 in | 22 in | 24 in | 26 in | 28 in |
Embroidered letters need to be at least a quarter inch tall to stitch cleanly, so a logo with small lettering may need the larger end of the range, or a print instead of thread: see embroidery or DTF.
